Weaning at Acorn & Pip
When should I start weaning my baby?
NHS guidance recommends starting solid foods at around 6 months, when your baby can sit up with support, hold their head steady, and shows interest in food. Before 6 months, babies' digestive systems aren't ready for solids. If you're unsure, speak to your health visitor. What we can help with is making sure you have the right kit when the time comes.
What weaning equipment do you stock?
Our weaning range covers everything you need for starting solids — silicone suction bowls that stay put, soft-tipped weaning spoons, deep-pocket bibs, sectioned plates, beakers and sippy cups, and snack pots for on-the-go. We stock tried-and-tested weaning products from brands known for food-safe materials and practical design.
What is baby-led weaning and do your products support it?
Baby-led weaning (BLW) means letting babies feed themselves with finger foods from the start, rather than spoon-feeding purées. It encourages independence and builds a healthy relationship with food. Our range supports BLW beautifully — suction plates, open cups, sectioned trays, and silicone bibs with deep pockets are all BLW staples.
What products are best for eating on the go?
We stock a great range of on-the-go mealtime essentials — insulated snack pots, leak-proof beakers, portable cutlery sets, and compact lunch bags. These are the products that make life with a weaning baby genuinely manageable when you're out and about.
Are weaning products good as gifts for parents?
A well-chosen weaning kit is a brilliant baby shower or new baby gift — particularly appreciated by parents who haven't yet reached that stage and may not have thought to put it on their list. Come into our Huddersfield store at 6–7 Carr Lane, Slaithwaite and we can help you put a lovely weaning starter set together.
